SCHOLARSHIP // SYSTEMATIC UNDERSTANDING

Academic Foundation

Built through speed, depth, and disciplined study.

I learned fastest when subjects started overlapping. Mathematics gave me structure, physics made the structure move, and computer science let me turn it into something that could actually do work.

The Academic Path

Two curricula, compressed timelines, and now an engineering degree, entered two years early.

Things I Built During My A-Levels

When an idea would not sit still in my head, I built a simulation of it. Here are four of them. Each one has a challenge, if you are curious.

0of 4 solved
Drag the gold point along the curve

A derivative is the slope of a line through two points, as the two points become one. Move the second point towards the first and watch the secant turn into the tangent.

1.75Secant slope
1.00True derivative at x = 1
0.75Error
Challenge

Get the error below 0.05.

Drag the arrow tips: the whole plane follows

A 2×2 matrix is an instruction for moving all of space. Its columns say where the two basis arrows land. The determinant says how much every area gets scaled.

1.00.00.01.0
1.00Determinant: area scale
Challenge

Drag the arrows until the determinant is 0, crushing all of space onto a line.

    Output–

Press Step to fetch the first instruction.

Every program is this loop: fetch an instruction, decode it, execute it. This one, in the assembly language from my Computer Science papers, adds up every number from N down to 1.

    Challenge

Run the program all the way to END and read the output.

Screen: the bright bands land here

Young's double slit. Two waves leave two slits and arrive at the screen in step in some places and out of step in others. Fringe spacing follows w = λD / a, with the screen 2.0 m away.

    2.00 mmFringe spacing, w
    Challenge

Set the fringe spacing to exactly 3.00 mm.

    CURRENT PROOF
    Theorem.

    Let a, b, c ∈ ℝ. If a > b and b > c, then a > c.

    Proof (Student Submission)
    1 Assume a > b and b > c.
    2 Subtract b from both sides of a > b.
    3 Subtract b from both sides of b > c.
    4 Therefore, a - b > c - b.
    5 Hence, a > c.

    PROOF-BASED LEARNING

Students work through random derivations and question every logical step.

    PEER MARKING & REVIEW

Peer marking turns answers into explanations another student can follow.

    ARGUMENT VERIFICATION

Proofs become structures students can inspect, challenge, repair, and trust.
