Computer Science Resource Gallery - First Flask + Python Project

Jan 2023 – Jan 2023

Look Inside

Overview

CS Hub was my first Flask and Python web application, turning my computer-science questions, notes, tutorials, and study resources into an online gallery other students could access.

What It Delivers

  • A structured home for computer-science questions, notes, explanations, and tutorials.
  • Flask routes and request handling.
  • Reusable templates rendered through Jinja2.
  • HTML and CSS page structure.
  • Organized files and template inheritance for cleaner growth.
  • Public deployment through Render.

What I Did

  • Designed and built the application independently as a junior developer.
  • Created the Flask routes, templates, content organization, interface, and deployment process.
  • Converted private study material into a resource intended to benefit other Cambridge students.
  • Learned backend routing, template rendering, deployment, and maintainable project structure through direct implementation.

Outcomes

  • My first functioning Python-backed website.
  • A reusable educational archive accessible beyond a local device.
  • Practical experience with the complete path from local code to public deployment.
  • The beginning of using software to distribute the resources I created while learning.

Proven Impact

  • Successfully deployed a Flask application online.
  • Created a public collection of original questions, notes, and tutorials.
  • Established the backend-development foundation later expanded through Student Life Manager.

Why It Matters

  • Marked my transition from static pages into server-rendered web applications.
  • Connected programming with mentoring and educational access.
  • Provided the first complete experience of building, organizing, and deploying a backend project.
The project was modest compared with what followed, but structurally decisive: it was the first time Python code I wrote became something other people could open, use, and judge.
