Gmail Drafting Engine

Sep 2025 – Sep 2025
60+ hoursMonthly time saved per professional

Overview

I built the Gmail Drafting Engine to prepare strong replies before the user starts typing. It reads incoming messages, carries conversation context, classifies the email, learns the user’s writing patterns, and creates a review-ready draft directly inside the inbox.

What It Delivers

  • Context-aware reply drafting in real time.
  • Automatic follow-ups, introductions, confirmations, summaries, and routine responses.
  • Tone alignment based on historic sent email, greetings, formality, phrasing, and sign-off patterns.
  • Intelligent labels such as high priority, support, finance, promotions, or custom categories.
  • Draft creation directly inside Gmail for review rather than uncontrolled automatic sending.
  • Adaptive responses without relying on rigid templates.

What I Did

  • Designed the classification, context extraction, tone-modelling, generation, and Gmail-draft workflow.
  • Connected inbox triggers, message parsing, labeling, AI drafting, and draft-folder delivery.
  • Built the system around human review so speed increased without surrendering control.
  • Created reusable components for style learning, routing, and failure handling.

Outcomes

  • The inbox becomes a structured workspace rather than a queue of repeated writing tasks.
  • Response preparation is compressed while context and personal voice are retained.
  • Users spend more time deciding and less time rewriting familiar messages.
  • Email organization and drafting operate as one connected workflow.

Proven Impact

  • 60+ hours saved per month per professional in the deployed estimate.
  • Faster response times without a corresponding drop in clarity.
  • Reduced cognitive load across daily communications.
  • Consistent tone and structure across a higher volume of messages.

Why It Matters

  • Eliminates repetitive manual writing.
  • Converts time spent typing into time spent thinking and acting.
  • Scales communication without forcing the user into generic templates.
Writing one email is easy. Rewriting the same class of email daily is expensive repetition. The engine drafts context-aware replies while keeping the final edit and send decision with the human.
