Private Tutor Website

Look Inside

Overview

I built a custom educational website for my mathematics mentor, Dimuth Wanigathunga, using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. It centralized class information, schedules, tutorials, textbooks, past papers, and learning material so students could find resources quickly.

What It Delivers

  • Clearly structured class listings and schedules.
  • Centralized access to tutorials, textbooks, past papers, and supporting resources.
  • Responsive behaviour across devices.
  • Semantic content hierarchy and accessible page structure.
  • Interactive menus and smooth navigation.
  • Search-friendly metadata, headings, and content organization.
  • Lightweight code intended to preserve speed and practical usability.

What I Did

  • Designed and developed the website from the ground up.
  • Structured the academic resources and class information around student needs.
  • Implemented responsive styling, interactions, navigation, SEO foundations, accessibility considerations, and performance optimization.
  • Translated the teaching environment that shaped me into a practical digital resource for other students.

Outcomes

  • A single location for class information and academic materials.
  • Faster access to resources that had previously been scattered.
  • A simple platform designed around real student use rather than unnecessary visual complexity.
  • An early example of using web development as a form of educational service.

Proven Impact

  • Created a complete centralized learning platform for a private mathematics class.
  • Combined schedules, resources, tutorials, textbooks, and past papers in one interface.
  • Applied performance, accessibility, SEO, and responsive-design principles to an educational use case.

Why It Matters

  • Connected my development skills with the teaching community that shaped my mathematics journey.
  • Demonstrated that useful systems do not need to be technically extravagant.
  • Reinforced the principle that clarity is itself a form of engineering.
Built from gratitude, the project became an early proof that software can serve a community simply by making useful knowledge easier to find, navigate, and reuse.
